SMaCH key challenge

Describe the strategies of the stewards and stakeholders of production and marketing networks

To face this key challenge, SMaCH launch research projects and actions with several objectives:

  • Reconcile individual and public interests by fostering the notion of crop health as a common good.
  • Inform decision-makers about the benefits and trade-offs, in the short and long term, of prophylactic or curative plant health strategies
  • Inform stewards and stakeholders about the trade-offs between productivity, quality and rusticity of plant cultivars.
  • Engage the stewards of crop health management in exploring and adopting new management practices
  • Take into consideration the importance of socio-economic forces in the behaviors of the stewards of crop health management
  • Contribute to reinforcing the organization of crop health surveillance infrastructure
