SMaCH key challenge

Avoid risks to crop health through surveillance and the establishment of resilient and robust agrosystems

To face this key challenge, SMaCH launch research projects and actions with several objectives :

  • Deploy proactive surveillance of new or emerging pests and pathogens or those that evade control practices
  • Build and popularize tools and resources for multi-pest diagnosis and for the identification of auxiliary insects by farmers and extension agents
  • Conceive heterogeneous or multi-species plant stands that favor crop health
  • Optimize the architecture of plants and cropping systems to constrain pests and pathogens
  • Assess the sustainability of agrosystems and their resilience to global change
  • Assess the nature and extent of the impact of crop health management practices on the environment, food safety and crop loss
